ART COLOGNE 2025
As a partner of ART COLOGNE, the LBBW Collection will once more be present in 2025 with a curated special exhibition on the subject of “Worlds of Sound.”
From 6 to 9 November 2025, the LBBW Collection is exhibiting around 40 works at ART COLOGNE in Hall 11.2, Stand B 305, on the subject of sound, music and resonance: whether bangs, whispers or melodies – sounds accompany us everywhere. The exhibition ‘Klangwelten’ (Worlds of Sound), specially conceived for ART COLOGNE by Barbara Thomann, curator of the LBBW Collection, brings together works from the collection that refer to sounds or noises in very different ways. They are inspired by instruments and classical forms of composition, or draw concrete references to music and pop culture. The media range spans from painterly abstraction to photography to contemporary object and video art.
The exhibition ‘Klangwelten’ (Worlds of Sound) with works by Max Ackermann, Rebekka Benzenberg, Isa Genzken, Gregor Hildebrandt, Stephan Huber, Annika Kahrs, Thomas Locher, Elizabeth Peyton, Ina Weber, Anna Virnich and Raphaela Vogel, among others, opens up a variety of resonance spaces that explore sounds, tones, noises and melodies in a polyphonic manner, thus making sound visible and art audible.
New acquisitions of the LBBW collection
In cooperation with ‘monopol’ magazine, a special publication on new acquisitions of the LBBW collection during the past two years is released this year. Richly illustrated, with numerous interviews with artists and texts on the individual works, the magazine offers an insight into the ongoing development of the collection. The hot-off-the-press edition is available for guests at the art fair at the LBBW Collection's stand B 305 at ART COLOGNE 2025.
